It helped to look at other students social change projects because I saw and learned about different things going on in the world right now that people have strong opinions on.
I like getting feedback from my peers because it is multiple opinions that often times overlap. The common feedback I received was that the striped shirt makes it hard to read and that I should crop the legs out. In a social change project there has to be meaning because if there isn't it wont do any change and there isn't a point of doing a project on it. I am able to design with text because it adds detail to a photo and makes it more meaningful and understandable. No, I wont see my cousin for awhile and wont be able to retake photos of a belly.

Yes, looking at other students photos helped to get more understanding on the project and more ideas to take more pictures.
Yes, the feedback was kind of vague but it helps to have more than just Mr. Monett. The common theme in my feedback was to get better lighting or edit it for more contrast. I can use this to help me take more pictures this weekend. The importance to follow the rules is because it helps you get a better photo and understand what the task is. If the photo is dark you are more likely to think of sad things than you would if you were to loo at a photo with lots of light. I will retake more pictures this weekend. Lauren- Description: This stop action photo was taken of a reflection of someone's person on a wall. Their hair is flying but it was stopped in time to represent “stop action”. The 3D object is shown on the wall as 2D to make it a 2D Shape. Analysis: This photo was achieved by taking multiple pictures as someone flopped their hair. Lauren had to find a place with the perfect shadow for this picture. As I look at this picture my eyes go directly to the hair because it is the clearest spot. The photo is normal size and the subject takes up about ⅓ of the space. I think it is interesting that the face and hair is detailed. For example, the nose and glasses are very distinct. Interpret: The mood or feeling that the picture gave off to me was calm. The way the shadow was stopped it was “free flowing” and happy. It didn't have a personal voice but I don't think the artist had a specific intention but it came off as calm. Evaluation: This is a successful piece of art because it completely showed stop action. Understanding that this picture was taken in the school it is hard to find a plain background but if I took this picture I would've tried to take it with a more plain background or without the railing. Carter- Description: This stop action picture is of three girls jumping in a classroom. You can see that the girls are moving because their feet are blurry but their bodies are stopped in the air. It very accurately shows motion. Analysis: The dominant principle of this picture is the three girls. My eyes look directly at the girl in the middle because it is in the focus point. I think the location was decent for being inside school but the picture is a little sideways. The girls take up most of the space in the photo. Interpret: This photo has a happy and excited mood. It seems chaotic but fun, it reminds me of a normal day in school. I think Carter was trying to make a happy scene of three friends in class. Evaluation: This photo is nice and portrays stop action successfully. To make this picture better I would have a different background. Breanna-
Description: This photo is another stop action. It is a hockey stick hitting a hockey puck in the air. The photographer did a really good job making the photo not blurry at all but you can also very easily tell that there is movement. Analysis: The focus point of this photo is the hockey stick tape. The photo has a great background and was taken at a great angle. The street adds some texture to the photo. Right as I look at the photo my eyes go to the stick and then it moves over to the puck which makes it very obvious that it is an action picture. Interpret: If Brianna plays hockey the mood of this picture is probably to show her love for the sport. I didn't get any specific connections to this picture but if someone plays hockey it might remind them how much they love the sport and bring memories in. Evaluation: This is an overall great picture and has a lot of remarkable qualities. Brianna did a superior job while taking this photo. There is nothing I would change. Types of blur: camera motion blur, subject motion blur, out-of-focus blur, depth-of-field blur.
How shutter speeds affect how motion is captured: The shorter the shutter speed, the easier it is to freeze a fast moving object in a picture. Movement success: The biker on 221 has a blurred background to give the effect of him going fast, a shutter speed would've worked also. The runners on page 218 are in a picture with panning, this makes the girls look focused on but also blurry. A subject motion blur also would've worked. Frozen photos convey movement: Both the apple and the liquid are frozen in the picture but it is obvious that it is moving in real life because no object just freezes in air like that. The photo tricks your mind at first glance. |
